Traxxas TRX-4 Defender

How these numbers were settled

Two-speed, resolved.

• The 82056-4 owner's manual prints two formulas (High Gear: '# Spur Gear Teeth / # Pinion Gear Teeth x 6.32 = Final Gear Ratio'; Low Gear: '... x 15.8 = Final Gear Ratio') and marks an 11-tooth pinion / 45-tooth spur as stock.
• Its two charts give 25.85 (high) and 64.64 (low) for 11/45, and the arithmetic reproduces both exactly: 45/11 x 6.32 = 25.85 and 45/11 x 15.8 = 64.64.
• High gear is used as the final drive because this is a top-speed calculator; low gear is 64.64:1.
• Two independent readings of the same manual page returned the same constants.
• Traxxas publishes no combined 'Gear Ratio (Internal)' row for the TRX-4, so there is no competing figure.
• Brushed Titan 550 21T motor, so KV and the cell count are left blank and no no-load speed check is possible.
• The tire diameter of 4.64 in (117.9 mm) is from Traxxas's TRX-4 comparison chart ('1.9" x 4.64" Canyon Trail'): 1.9 in is the wheel, 4.64 in the tire outside diameter.
• Portal axles.
• Traxxas publishes no portal reduction for the 1/10 TRX-4; 2.5559 is back-solved from its printed constants and comes out the same from either range (6.32 / (0.80 x 34/11) and 15.8 / (2.00 x 34/11)).
• The TRX-4M portal kit is printed as 2.56:1.
